I talked to Ariana, who is studying in Merida, Mexico, at the moment. Evidently everything is shut down for a week, including university classes and government buildings, due to the swine flu proto-pandemic. It sounds like it’s more because they’ll jump at any opportunity to have a holiday, rather than because they’re really worried—Ariana certainly doesn’t sound worried at the moment. Swine flu has also hit Germany now.
It also sounds like there are freak snowstorms (wtf?) in Illinois despite 60° weather, and that it may continue for another month and a half. I can’t find any articles on this, but my mom can’t be wrong, so watch out for freak weather!
My trailer class is turning out to kind of be a day-crusher. The teacher seems great, but the rest of the class really gets me down. It feels very lengthy, and the girl-dominated dynamic is reminding me that I still haven’t learned how to deal with female pecking order and social tricks. I think I will be glad to get back to RIT with its 70% guys. There are like 4 guys in my classes here. There was some sort of miscommunication in class last week, because my group told me we were preparing separately, and yesterday it turned out they had all prepared a presentation together and I ended up having to present by myself. I’m really insecure about this class because of the social stuff and because I’m proving terrible at coming up with good animations.
And my bike is broken. The back wheel is loose and is rubbing against the brake and the side of the frame too much to ride. I hope to have it fixed by Saturday though so I can go to the Middle Ages Market this weekend.
The day did actually straighten out some after class, but I’m holding out hope for tomorrow being better than mediocre.

Umm. Ellen, the puppy is single-pawedly contributing to the blizzard-like conditions here in Illinois. The molting season has begun. Sorry if the message was too subtle. I took her outside yesterday and rubbed her down. Tuts of fur went swirling across the patio. The birdies will be happy.
Love,
Mama
I didn’t get Mama’s email either. — Daddy
Aha, well, that would be why I couldn’t find any information on the National Weather Service page or on WILL about snow. I also wondered greatly about how there was snow when it’s 60º, but I figured if there’s hail in the summer, maybe you can have snow in the spring. I’m glad that it’s just the puppy being a freak, rather than the weather.
